“Amazon” A Perfect Example of Social Computing

 

To begin with, Social Computing is an area of computer science which incorporates the social behavior and computational systems. So, it is basically creating something digital using software and technology in the context of social standards. Social computing has already impacted us via different approaches such as a handheld device or other communicative approaches such as YouTube, Facebook, etc. So, it is obvious that social computing will continue to expand more and its application towards technology (Mao & Wang, 2013).

In the current context, there are a lot of changes or advancements due to COVID-19. The whole world has gone a step back to get the necessary prevention because of this pandemic. So, taking this into consideration, many companies have grasped this opportunity to turn it into the other side. One of the famous companies is Amazon.

Well, Amazon has been creating its mark from way before but in this current time, the amazon business is skyrocket. Because people are staying inside in this quarantine period, they have no choice to trust their one and only option i.e. Online Shopping. Since Amazon has world-wide connection, it was the customer's first choice. And the release of Spark, where the customer can have a very good understanding of the product itself, Amazon created a good relationship with the customer and the supplier as well. Since Amazon excelled in the content creation and used the web services excellently, the business was an uplift. Even in my case, I never ordered anything online but during my time in quarantine I think I ordered about $500 worth of goods from amazon.

Amazon used the social media platform taking the principle of social computing into consideration which led them into their success.
